We're proud of what we do. Here's a selection of the projects we've been working on recently....
-
The Brunswick Centre
The Brunswick Centre are an establish charity who provide sexual health and HIV services across Calderdale & Kirklees. They had an existing website that was out of date and in need of a long overdue redesign!
One of the big problems with this clients existing site was it's architecture - it was very difficult for users of the site to find the information they needed. Combined with the fact that the site itself was very difficult to update, requiring specialist skills, The Brunswick Centre were in a frustrating position.
We were able to install a state of the art content management system which allowed the client to manage their content in a very simple manner. Requiring no specialist web skills they were quickly back in control of their website.
A complete visual redesign and revision of the website structure also means that navigating the website is a much more pleasant experience for users of the website.

Transition Espresso
Transition Espresso is a specialist coffee company who provide the best coffee at a wide range of events. Working in the VIP areas of Glastonbury, V Festivals, Bestival and Download (to name a few) they are an exciting, dynamic company who have built up a real reputation over the last few years.
Transition needed a site that was quite simple and to the point. It's a bit of a cliche that pictures speak louder than words but it's often true and this is the case for this site. With colourful, vibrant images that provide a backdrop for the efficient text we were really happy with how the site turned out.
One area that is slightly different is the blog - this is an area to really get into the nitty gritty about what these guys are so passionate about.. coffee!

SCintillate
SCIntillate is a not-for-profit organisation specialising in delivering Sustainable Development Education, Science, Design Technology and Music through hands-on workshops and interactive shows.
If you're working with great people it generally makes anything better and designing a website is no exception. Working with the people at SCIntillate has been a total pleasure because they're so passionate about what they do. They had a very clear vision for what they needed from their website - something simple that they can really control and update themselves.
It's always nice to meet people who recognise that reams and reams of content isn't always necessary or wise because people seldom read it anyway. With this website we kept it simple and made sure the message was obvious.

Bold Street Coffee
Bold Street Coffee is the best coffee shop in Liverpool. This website was created to document the gutting of the existing shop and replacing it with their new super cool interior. These guys are coffee experts and have the best baristas in town.
This is a really exciting project to be involved and it's still evolving all the time. The idea was to quickly get a photo blog set up and then build on this over time. This will eventually include the main website for the shop but this is all in the pipeline... these guys have been so busy opening the shop that they're still catching their breath!
If you're ever in Liverpool, call in and ask for Sam!

Civic Voice
Civic Voice is a national charity for the civic movement that promotes civic pride in communities. Launched in 2010 with the support of Griff Rhys Jones and coverage across national media this was an exciting and important project for us.
One of the key requirements for this website is that it needs to engage people with local and national campaigns, encourage them to register their interest and also get them involved by taking action by forming their own community groups.
Another feature of this site is that it allows people to interact with each other, share knowledge and support each other. Some of the community groups associated with the civic movement already have their own websites but for those who don't, the Civic Voice website allows them to create their own presence on the internet with their own content managed site that they update themselves.

culturepool
culturepool is an organisation, based in Liverpool, that works with a broad range of artists, venues and communities to develop more inclusivity within art and culture through promotion, education and support.
This was a great project but challenging too. We like a good challenge and it always makes it better when you're working with great clients who are passionate about what they're doing.
The website has multiple purposes - at it's most basic level it's a listings site, publicising events and exhibitions etc. But, in addition to this, the website provides a platform for people to discuss events/artists/venues and also share photos, videos and other media.
A big part of this project was also to allow the culturepool team to communicate with their subscribers, using a content managed eNewsletter system that includes automatic subscriptions.

Future Jobs Fund - management information system
The Future Jobs Fund is a scheme run by Jobcentre Plus that facilitates and funds employers to hire young people on at least the minimum wage for six months. This is a major government program to counteract unemployment in a time of recession.
This is a huge, exciting ongoing project for us. Working alongside our friends at Zest Media Services
This is a private, login only, website that allows employers to register vacancies and employees for Future Job Fund positions. The system generates claims for employers that are submitted to Groundwork UK to fund payment due to employees. This is a complex system that records lots of data, in pre-defined formats required for Jobcentre Plus records and this results in multi-millions pounds of payments to employers.

Portland Nurseries
Portland Nurseries is an established group of three (soon to be four) day nurseries in the Huddersfield area offering the highest standard of early years care and education from birth to eleven.
Running the best day nurseries in Huddersfield, Portland wanted a new website to match their standards of child care. They had an existing website but this was completely replaced with a new site that detailed the first class services offered by each of their four locations and also represented the standards and ethos of their whole operation.
In our ongoing relationship we've worked together on promotional materials form brochures, posters and flyers and also build a content managed eNewletter system that allows them to communicate with their customers.

Civic Trust Awards - online application system
The Civic Trust Awards scheme was established in 1959 to recognise the very best in architecture, design, planning, landscape and public art. Awards are given to projects of the highest quality design, but only if they are judged to have made a positive cultural, social or economic contribution to the local community.
The Civic Trust Awards required an automated online application system to cut down on paperwork, make it easier for applicants to apply and also allocate schemes to their judges.
Working alongside Zest Web Design, we built a private area within their website that applicants could log into, create multiple applications and upload supporting documents. These applications are then allocated to expert judges who can retrieve all the materials they require before attending a site to assess a scheme. Once a scheme has been visited the judges can then return to the website and enter their assessments and observations.

Tiny Giants
Tiny Giants are a Theatre in Education organisation, and one of the most innovative in the country. Writing and producing bespoke productions for councils, schools and PCT’s across the UK, Tiny Giants consists of teachers, actors, musicians, writers and researchers who are dedicated to the development of Theatre in Education for young people.
Tiny Giants already had a website but they couldn't maintain it on their own. They wanted a solution that allowed them to keep on top of their own content and also looked good.
In addition they needed something that allowed them to provide educational materials to attendees of their productions. This includes exercises and reviews that can be submitted via the website and used for analysis.

Heritage Open Days
Heritage Open Days celebrates England’s fantastic architecture and culture by offering free access to properties that are usually closed to the public or normally charge for admission. Every year on four days in September, buildings of every age, style and function throw open their doors, ranging from castles to factories, town halls to tithe barns, parish churches to Buddhist temples.
The Heritage Open Days site was designed with Stephen McIver from Zest Web Design and really is a huge site. The actual website is only a small part of it though... this project includes an online application system for organisers to register their properties and events and publicise them prior to HODs weekend. This is no mean feat either... there are over 1000 organisers and over 4000 properties and events. The website itself includes a directory that allows users to browse and search events by location, category and many other criteria.
In 2009 HODs events had over 1 million visitors and the website itself was getting over 20,000 hits a day leading up to HODs weekend!
